Woman, 85 years old fends off moose with shovel.
Dorothea Taylor used a grain shovel to beat a moose until he ran off, to save her husband, who was being stomped! Her husband was hiking with his golden retreivers when he saw the moose. He dove into the snow, but the moose started stomping him. His wife, Dorothea, who is 5 feet tall and weighs 97 pounds, grabbed a big shovel and hit the moose in the head and body until it ran off. She then ran for help and Murphy was rushed to the hospital, but is recovering from a gash to his head.

THAT WAS A REAL MISS-MATCH. THE MOOSE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!

Greetings and Salutations Brothers and Sisters!!

Well it’s that time of the year again. I’m talking about election time…. This time your choice isn’t republican or democrat, I’m talking about who is going to run for Lodge Officers! We will be taking nominations for officers starting sometime this month with the elections to be held the last general meeting in April. The offices open for nominations at the present time are Governor (must have held another office for at least one year), Jr. Governor, Prelate, Treasurer (must be an active member for six months), Administrator (nominated by the Board of Officers and elected by a majority vote of the membership at a regular lodge meeting) and 1 year trustee. If you are thinking about becoming an officer or would like to nominate someone, please fill out one of the forms and turn it in. (They will be available in the social quarters). Remember you can not campaign for office, no written material. You can tell people you are running for a particular office and ask for their support but that is all. Please keep in mind that our officers are looking for your input and help to move this lodge forward. New members are asked to attend a lodge meeting with their sponsor so we as officers, can get a chance to meet and greet them and they can get a better understanding as to what is going on. Why not join us? I still have a couple of months as Governor left so I will write you again next month.

Thanks to everyone that attended my surprise B-Day party. Fun evening.

We are still looking for some help collecting soccer items for a K-6th grade school. A box is in the lodge for new or good used items. Money is also being accepted to purchase whatever items are not donated. Helping kids is what we do. Thank You!
Don't forget our Pool League, Euchre, Wednesday Dinners, Jack of Spades and special events. Ask at the lodge for details.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN. Would you like to run for an office in our Chapter for the 2012-13 year? Do you have a candidate in mind for an office? Nominations are now open and you can see a brief description of duties for each office as well as nomination forms which are posted in the women’s bathroom or you can open the attachment. The deadline for nominations is March 8, 2012, 5:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS are POTLUCK DINNERS, $6.00 donations.
1st Week, Premium Dog Bar, side dishes include items to build your own Chicago Dog, New York Dog, Texas Dog, or Coney Dog as well as lots of other toppings to build your favorite Premium Custom Dog.

FEBRUARY 18, 1:00 p.m. CARDBOARD SLED RACE - Cardboard sleds can be made from only duct tape and cardboard. No oil, paint or any other materials. Join us to root on your favorite sled/rider and for snacks and fun, fun, fun!!

CHAPTER MEETINGS are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. We encourage you to attend and bring input and ideas to these meetings. Your input and ideas are what makes our Chapter successful.

Jon Sweet had surgery and is home doing fine.
Our condolences to John Raffel in the passing of his wife recently. Our prayers are with you.
